Why is my Pinion MGU louder during some gear changes?

Updated over 2 months ago

This phenomenon is related to the so-called double shifting processes, in which the non-positive pawl changes in both units of the transmission. In the MGU, there are two such shift steps - from fourth to fifth and from eighth to ninth gear.

With these shift steps, the gear change takes the fraction of a second longer and may generate significantly more noise than the other shift steps. A certain amount of pedal idle travel is also noticeable.

The transmission components are designed for these loads. Damage or increased wear is excluded.
