Can I use a range extender on my Pinion bike?

From the 2027 model year onwards, almost all our Pinion models can be configured with a newly developed range extender (‘Buddypack’) – with the exception of the Load5.

Other range extenders from FIT cannot be used.

Can I retrofit a range extender to my bike with a Pinion drive?

For e-bike models ordered before the 2027 model year, the following applies:

Retrofitting is generally possible.

However, this requires extensive technical modifications. Retrofitting is therefore time-consuming and costly. If you are interested, please contact your Riese & Müller specialist dealer.

Please note!

For HS-Bikes (S-Pedelecs) ordered before model year 27, the relevant testing body must also approve the use of the range extender. Otherwise, the use of the range extender will invalidate the type approval.

The following applies to models from model year 2027 onwards:

The Nevo5 pinion and Charger5 pinion are factory-fitted to accommodate the range extender – even if it was not included in the order at the time of purchase. Retrofitting at a later date is therefore straightforward.

The Homage pinion and Delite pinion are only pre-fitted for the range extender if it was ordered at the same time as the bike. Otherwise, retrofitting it at a later date is just as labour-intensive as with older models.

If you are unsure, your Riese & Müller dealer will be happy to advise you.
