In May 2026, Bosch launched another major update.
The Performance Upgrade 2.0 enables a maximum torque of up to 120 Nm and a maximum motor assist of 600%.
Which motors are eligible for the upgrade?
The upgrade is available for the following 5th-generation motors:
Performance Line CX (BDU384Y)
Cargo Line (BDU384Y)
Are there also upgrades for other motor models?
600% motor assistance is also available for the Drive Units
Performance Line PX (BDU34)
and Performance Line CX Gen4 (BDU37)
Further information on the various motors and their upgradeability can be found on the Bosch website.
Which bike models are eligible for the upgrade?
For the 2026 model year, the models
Charger5
Charger5 Mixte
Delite5
Homage5
Load5 75
Load5 60
Multicharger3
Multicharger3 Mixte
Multitinker2
Nevo5
Superdelite5
have been approved for the upgrade.
The vario and automatiq models are excluded.
The HS variants of these models are also not eligible for the upgrade.
How do I get the update?
The update can be downloaded ‘over the air’ via the Bosch eBike Flow app. This means you can easily install the update without having to visit your dealer.
It can be installed as soon as your smartphone is connected to your bike. You can then customise your bike’s performance data and peak values individually within the app.
How much does the upgrade cost?
The entire update, including the performance upgrade, is free of charge.
Why isn’t the upgrade pre-installed at the factory?
Even the default motor setting (85 Nm) already offers a very powerful and dynamic riding experience.
As the decision to opt for a performance upgrade usually also entails a reduction in range and increased wear and tear, we would like to leave the active decision to upgrade to our customers.
Why can’t some model variants be upgraded?
Some models have technical or legal restrictions that do not permit an increase in maximum torque.
The Enviolo hubs fitted to bikes from the 2026 model year (and earlier), for example, are approved for a maximum torque of 100 Nm.
At this stage, we cannot yet guarantee that the Vario and Automatiq hubs for the next model year will also be approved for a maximum torque of 120 Nm.
My bike meets the requirements, but the upgrade cannot be activated. What can I do?
There are currently delays in activating the upgrade for some models. We are already working with Bosch to resolve the issues causing this, so that the upgrade will be available for all bikes shortly.
We ask for your patience.
