The Bosch Performance Update

Updated this week

In March of this year, Bosch announced a comprehensive performance update for the Bosch Flow app for July 2025. This enables even more flexible and customised adjustment of the performance data in the individual support levels. The highlight of the update is that the motors themselves will also receive a performance upgrade.

Which motors can receive the upgrade?

The update is available for the following engine models:

Performance Line SX (BDU314Y)

Performance Line PX (BDU347Y)

5th generation Performance Line CX (BDU 384Y)

5th generation Performance Line Speed (BDU 388Y)

5th generation Cargo Line (BDU384Y)

You can find out in which Riese & Müller bikes these motors are used in the chapter "Which bike models can be upgraded" below.

What does the upgrade include?

By increasing the engine peak values, the driving experience becomes noticeably more dynamic and powerful (especially when starting off).

The 5th generation Performance Line CX motor is delivered from the factory with 85 Nm max. torque, 600 watts max. power and max. 340 % assistance.

With the update, 100 Nm max. torque, 750 watts max. power and max. 400 % assistance can be achieved.

With the 5th generation Performance Line Speed motor, the maximum assistance can be upgraded from 340% to 400% and with the 5th generation Cargo Line motor, the maximum torque (from 85 to 100 Nm) and the maximum power (from 600 to 750 watts) are increased.

The Performance Line SX motor can be increased from 55 Nm max. torque to 60 Nm max. torque and from 340% to 400% max. assistance

With the Performance Line PX motor, the upgrade also extends to the maximum torque (85 Nm to 90 Nm), the maximum power (600 watts to 700 watts) and the maximum assistance (340% to 400%)

How do I get the update?

The upgrade is part of the next update, which will be made available to you "over the air" in the Bosch eBike Flow app. This means that you can easily install the update without having to visit your dealer.

As soon as the update is available (expected in July 2025), it will be displayed in the Bosch eBike Flow app. It can be installed as soon as your smartphone is connected to your bike. You can then customise the performance data and also the peak values of your bike in the app.

What does the upgrade cost?

The entire update and therefore also the performance upgrade is free of charge.

Why is the upgrade not installed at the factory?

The basic engine settings already offer a very powerful and dynamic driving experience.

As the decision in favour of a performance upgrade usually also entails a loss of range, we would like to leave the active decision in favour of an upgrade to our customers.
