Bosch Performance Upgrade 2.0

Following the launch of a performance upgrade by Bosch in July 2025, which enables the peak performance of numerous motor models to be increased (for further information, please see the article on the Bosch Performance Upgrade), another comprehensive upgrade was rolled out in May 2026:

The Performance Upgrade 2.0 enables a maximum torque of up to 120 Nm and a maximum motor assist of 600%.

Which motors are eligible for the upgrade?

The upgrade is available for the following 5th-generation motors:

  • Performance Line CX (BDU384Y)

  • Cargo Line (BDU384Y)

Are there also upgrades for other motor models?

600% motor assistance is also available for the following Drive Units:

  • Performance Line PX (BDU34)

  • and Performance Line CX Gen4 (BDU37)

Further information on the various motors and their upgradeability can be found on the Bosch website.

Which bike models are eligible for the upgrade?

For the 2026 model year, the following models have been approved for the upgrade:

  • Charger5

  • Charger5 Mixte

  • Delite5

  • Homage5

  • Load5 75

  • Load5 60

  • Multicharger3

  • Multicharger3 Mixte

  • Multitinker2

You can find further information on which models are fitted with which motors here:

How do I get the upgrade?

The update can be downloaded ‘over the air’ via the Bosch eBike Flow app. This means you can easily install the update by yourself.

It can be installed as soon as your smartphone is connected to your bike. You can then customise your bike’s performance data and peak values individually within the Bosch eBike Flow app.

How much does the upgrade cost?

The update, including the performance upgrade, is free of charge.

Why isn’t the upgrade pre-installed at the factory?

The standard motor setting (85 Nm) already offers a very powerful and dynamic riding experience.

A performance upgrade usually also entails a reduction in range and increased wear and tear, we would like to leave the active decision to upgrade to our customers.

Why can’t some model variants be upgraded?

Some bikes have technical or legal restrictions that do not permit an increase in maximum torque.

Enviolo hubs fitted to bikes from the 2026 model year (and earlier), for example, are approved for a maximum torque of 100 Nm.

Hubs fitted from model year 27 onwards allow for this upgrade. Here you can find further information.

My bike meets the requirements, but the upgrade cannot be activated. What can I do?

Unfortunately, in some cases the upgrade does not appear in the Flow app, even though the bike meets all the necessary requirements.

If this is the case for you, please contact your dealer so that they can submit a Bosch software change request. So the upgrade can be locked off manually.
